Hi.

does anyone know of a way to get my dlink router to create a ppp connection via its lan ports instead of its rj-11 port as i have a wimax device linked into my router but i need to establish a pppoe connection on my pc to get it to connect. this wouldnt be to bad if it didnt cause my lan to stop working.:confused: its a dlink dsl-504t.

Thanks

should work for any pppoe device. i know it works with sentech wireless ethernet modems. give it a try :)

ah you're right. your dlink dsl-504t is an adsl router ie. it has a build-in modem. you will have to get a broadband router. :p

problem is i know that there is a telnet command u run on a billion 7401vgp that changes the 1 lan port to a wan port. now i wonder if there is a command like that for my dlink.

perhaps with different firmware but i think it's quite a mission to change software on the dlinks. you might have to open the box up and solder a few pins.

Hey SonZeRo. I've got a D-Link DSL 2640U and used to use wireless internet that sounds similar to what you described.

I plug it into the router via one of the RJ45 ports, then in the routers setup I set it to Auto (no username/password or anything else) then the only thing I have to do to get it to work is change some settings in windows. In Network Connections goto the Properties of the appropriate Local Area Connection then the Propreties of Internet Protocal (TCP/IP), here I had to enter an IP address specified by the ISP (changing the last number in the IP for each computer) aswell as entering a Default Gateway and DNS server provided by the wireless ISP. After that it worked fine.

Don't know if that helps you.

Edit, doing it like this it didn't matter if the other PCs connected via LAN cables or wireless, both worked.
