DMA Do not call me Database

Is it just me or does whoever run the DMA site not have a clue....

I do not trust a company that cannot host something directly on their site.

Plus, for me a DNC database should require all of one piece of information... my Cellphone/Home number. They will not be getting any other details out of me since I do not trust them as far as I could spit into a howling tornado.

I'm not sure that I would want to enter ALL my personal credentials on a non-secure HTTP page

As long as you don't enter your CC number/banking details its no different to registering for Hotmail or any other free service. The point is that this database could be used
by spammers - we would need a governmental (yeah they suck I know) body
to be in charge of such a database or at least a non-profit uncorruptable organisation
which wouldn't get its database hacked by a script kiddie for mailing lists for viagra
ads.

Also WHY DO THESE guys need an ID Number? With all those details, its easy to print out an ID book and some
official proof of address letterheads and open accounts for money laudnering, loans etc.

As I said previously....

As far as I'm concerned... I should simply be able to put in a phone number, and that number goes in to the DNC database. They have no need for any of that other information.

The DNC db compromised :(
More info here: http://cloudnet.co.za/robert/dnc/

This clearly indicates to me that the database has been compromised and abused.

It is ironic that a list intended to stop spam is actually being used for phishing.

How exactly does it that address prove that it's been comprimised?

Haven't found the servce that good in any case, it stopped the Cell-C/ExactMobiles but hasn't stopped the insurance people.

The website www.dmasa.org has just been hacked by a Egyptian hacker.
When I wanted to check out the do not call list it said this site is hacked.
When I try it now it just says " 403 Error - Forbidden".
Wonder what information the hacker got from them?
Not a good sign.
