Hi

Is there a DNA Genotyping service or Sequencing service in South Africa that anyone has used?

Specifically looking for something like the website 23andMe (UK based). Where you spit in a cup and they can tell you if you are susceptible to genetic disorders and also tells you your genetic ancestry.

Thanks

23andMe is US based.

It'll be cheaper to use an overseas service than using a SA one (if they even exist) since sequencers aren't exactly something you buy at incredible connection.

Also, do read the terms carefully. e.g. 23andMe reserves the right to use your DNA for scientific studies / sharing under some circumstances

Cool thanks for the ideas.

My guess is it wouldn't be too long before medical aids incentivise this. Discovery would lose its mind if they could know your genetic predispositions, before you know it you'll be in a high risk pool {puts tinfoil hat down}

Has anybody here done their DNA ancenstry or genetic health risk profiling? I am keen to try 23andme but the their terms and conditions are not clear as to whether they will do tests on samples couriered from SA.

Are their any other DNA testing kits I can use that do both ancestry and genetic health risks?
