Evening all.

I have had a few clients experiencing the following errors and have found the following of assistance.

Mail not sending - Client using OpenDNS, let the router or PC get these DNS address's automatically. Sign up again with OpenDNS if you still want to use that service and continue as per normal.

DNS errors or degraded browsing - Check the OpenDNS angle. Remove the service and get your DNS address's automatically. If you are not using OpenDNS please do not force DNS address's on your router or PC, get them automatically.

Let me know if this assists.

Thank you

hey shaun,

I am not using openDNS but still getting ALOT of DNS Error Temporary network problem, please retry later. Mainly with international sites and random but has been getting progressively worse.

Are you guys busy with something?

Hi there,

Are you forcing your DNS settings in your connection?

Shaun, I am also experiencing seriously degraded browsing tonight. The DNS settings in the router is forced on 196.30.31.193 and 196.7.0.138, which is what Peter confirmed when he was here a while ago.

Are you saying that I should set this to be obtained automatically from the ISP?

Cheers Rudi

Hi Rudi

Yup. Please get them automatically and let us know.

Thanks

Shaun, made the change to auto DNS. Made no difference. I can barely open mybroadband, let alone int sites. I checked my cap earlier today, there was still plenty left.

I am posting this through V3G. Browsing earlier today with iB was just fine, problem must be on ur side.

Shaun, made the change to auto DNS. Made no difference.

I did the same thing, no difference from my side.

It's random, sometimes on Facebook, Sterkinekor, news24 etc...

Refreshing the page a couple of times and it works, sometimes not at all...

Hi guys

The network guys are on it. they have experienced the same and we should hopefully have a solution shortly.

Thank you for all your input in identifying the issue.

Let you know as soon as I get an update.

Is the all the info u need Shaun?

Oja...not using any DNS thingies :P

Shaun,

Also still have issues with browsing. Just tried hellopeter.com, would not open.

Do you still experience problems on your side, or has hellopeter.com been banned from access through the iBurst network...just kiddin :)

Rudi

LOL....:P

No banning from our side.

Did it present itself as a DNS error and did it load after a refresh?

Let me know.

ps - give me a call when you have a moment.

Thanks

My concession to stave off head-splosion apoplexy last night was to take off my, until then PERFECTLY FINE AND WORKING THANK YOU VERY MUCH, to use your term 'forced', DNS settings and relent to trusting iBurst auto-set choices.

Browsing came back at least but I want to know why I had to give up my otherwise perfectly fine OpenDNS, that has features and options iBurst will NEVER be able to give me.

Oh, and thank you for giving me a place to vent ..seems I'm still somewhat miffed at this travesty.

I keep sending these onto networks.

They are still trying to isolate the issue.

I am hoping for a resolution soon.

*sigh* .. I do The Good Thing(tm) and ...ahh screw it, it's not worth it. Rather: Shaun, even with having changed to auto DNS, this bloody DNS error is coming back. Which, for a static page is just a pain, but for something interactive means, for example, having to start banking transactions all over again. Which is maddening.
