Hi guys,

Is anyone having DNS problems in Cape Town? Ever since Telkom's little peering problem last night, I have to reboot my Netgear DG632 every 20-30 minutes in order to resolves URL's. What's up?

No problem on my site..............
Cape Town , Durbanville
Billion 5100 router

I'm in Wynberg by the way... Damn, it's still happening...

Do the folowing, add these 4 dns servers to either your lan config or router(if its obtained automatically in the lan settings.) I've never had a problem yet..

196.25.255.34
196.25.255.3
196.43.1.11
196.25.1.11

Normally you have only 2 set or obtain automatically but it doesn't hurt to add more, so when the one times out it just goes to the nxt in the list automatically.

I am in rondebosch and am unable to access many sites. Browsing is slow. Cant access downloads.com, cnet.com and the list goes on.... Typical.....

Also can't get into Download.com, but my usual sites, all local, seem fine.

I could'nt access anything this morning - even rebooting the router didn't work, so I phone Telkom. The guy didn't know what was wrong so he filed a fault with SAIX. It's sort of working at the moment - I still have to reboot the router sometimes though...

I am inside CP area unfortunately, but can confirm that for the last couple of days I am also not hittting sites like download.com or gamefaqs etc...

Yip Same problem here ...cannot surf those sites @#$@#$!@#$@#$@#

northen suburbs.

I phoned telkom and they said I should try and use the following proxy in your internet browser: dsl-cache.saix.net port:8080... Hope this helps

try changing that 196.25.1.11 to 196.25.1.1

works much better.i had alot of dns issues while using the 196.25.1.11 dns

Anyone still having problems? I still am... I have little hair left to pull out...

I ran out of hair a week ago!
I am in JHB and have started receiving slow browsing again this evening, FTP, E-mail - well, everything - and is becoming a pain in the butt!
I have 3 isp's - Mweb Business, Axxess & AYCE, all of which I think are in Cape/PE area - this is becoming absolutely ridiculous!
I try to run a business from home and pay through the teeth, and we have problems like this...I have tried the DNS setings mentioned earlier, but it makes no difference from this side. Also tried switching to a different account to see if that helps - no luck.

I think it is high time someone (not sure who) really take Telkom to task on this whole issue - they are running riot over end-users and we have no leg to stand on.

I give up now and am going to bed! ...and hope I still have clients in the morning!
