On one of our dedicated box we are running Centos and Windows 2003 SP2. We have Cpanel installed on the linux side and I administer the Windows based sites through IIS Manager.

I am not really clued up on DNS :o , but I am wondering if sharing a name server between Centos and Win 2003 works. I keep getting "name server not found", when I try to register domains pointing to sites hosted under IIS.

Am I trying to do the impossible or am I being daft?

You shouldn't have any issues with the setup. Make sure that the Windows box is pointing to a valid DNS server that can resolve via the Centos box. If the domains are properly delegated to the Centos box, then the hosting provider's DNS should be fine. You can point the Windows DNS to the Centos box's IP address, but then you need to configure the Centos box as a recursive DNS server.

Thanks for the suggestions replies.. Yes, the Centos resolves. We have dedicated IP's for each of the partitions.

In that case, the simplest way would be to point the Windows server to the Centos server for DNS on the IP configuration page under the network adapter.
