We are having some serious problems resolving webpages.

Can anyone recommend some fast, relaiable DNS servers?

we are currently using:

196.43.1.11
196.25.1.11

dnscache1.is.co.za - 168.210.2.2
google-public-dns-a.google.com - 8.8.8.8

Should I used Dynamically Assigned or Recursive DNS servers? I am on ADSL.
You should always rather use the dynamically assigned server IPs that your ISP gives you. DNS servers are normally firewalled to only be available to the customers of a specific ISP. You also always want to connect to the DNS server that is closest to you to take advantage of local CDN servers.

Thanks for the advise. I am using two Saix DNS servers as per your above guidelines and so far this morning we have not had any problems... yet!

Thanks to everyone for the help.

I use google too... 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and openDNS at times.
ISP DNS is, well.... cuc.

Try to avoid the international DNS servers as your primary DNS server. You should be able to get lots of content much faster if you use local (RSA) DNS servers instead.

WHen you're using international DNS servers, you won't be able to access most of the local mirrors since the DNS servers would give you the IP address of the international mirrors instead.

Mweb users should be fine with DNS server: 168.210.2.2
Not completely related to the topic, just thought it may help someone along the line ;)

You notice how badly those DNS servers perform on the DNS tests that who.is.michael posted?
