I must admit, until last night, I never heard of a biker being hijacked!

The thing is, my cousin phones me up last night to tell me that someone I know back in Durban is claiming that he was hijacked on Sunday night while riding home! Now the thing is, about a year ago the same guy claimed he was hijacked and his car taken, but there were rumors that he had it staged so he can claim from insurance! So I'm finding it hard to believe!

So, do any of you know of a biker that has been hijacked?

Why not?

Did they take his helmet too? Friends of mine have been mugged/hijacked from bicycles on /\/ÂŻÂŻÂŻÂŻÂŻ\/\

I imagine it's easier than getting someone out a car etc...

Yes, it does happen. Its not very common though because not a lot of people know how to ride a bike (well not a lot of people who hijack cars)

Also its not very practical for a team of hijackers to jack a bike, also on a bike you can see a lot more of what is happening and can get away easily

I'm sure it does happen, but very rare.
There's more money to be made in cars/4x4's etc. when u think of parts and stuff.

I doubt it. Even on cars the guy carrying out the actual crime gets a pretty thin cut. For a bike it would hardly be worth it (Maybe for the high end ones).

Once you've got it then what? I doubt there are any bike chop shops.

And finally its going to be difficult anyway: Bikers tend to be super aware of their surroundings & can accelerate away at the first sign of troubel.

So he pushed it into a river/sold for scrap then claimed he was hijacked to get insurance too??
Sounds like a plan for my siff old Vuka...

Who knows! His relatives own a scrap business, they have a contract with Tata in India to supply scrap metal so it's possible I guess. But I was just wondering since I never heard of a biker being hijacked. I mean, I see bikers stopping at robots here in JHB and fiddling with their gloves etc., very easy for someone to run up to them with a gun! And being SA, most people won't move an inch to help out!

Probably not very common. Unless maybe it was a expensive Harley or other exotic that was ordered from above.

Given that he has a dodgy past, it sounds like he might be pulling a fast one, no pun intended.

funny enough, i friend of mine got hijacked last month on his bike in sunnyside pretoria. When he told me, i just couldnt believe it.

so yes it does happen
