Hi guys,
I've just finished my first year at ukzn for a Bsc Comp and IS and I'm wondering what to choose as electives for next year so my question is do companies care? I ideally want to work at a bank but I don't know if taking finance 2 as electives in the coming year will help? Other than that I could choose Econ 2 or just go for really easy subjects like management 1 and psychology 1 that won't add any extra load? What do you guys recommend?

Thanks

I did my second year there in 2010. Math236, Comp201, ISTN211, FINR101( basically grade 10 accounting ). Second semester - Comp202, Istn212, Comp203(discontinued), Stat140.

Doing 1st year electives really makes your life easy. I got certificates of merit for 4 out of my 8 courses that year.

I doubt it will make a diff. Depends on what job at the bank you want though.

Thanks for the feedback guys, just wanted to check whether it would be worth it to put the extra strain on myself.

Also I know its far from that time but honors... IS or Computer Science? Clearly from a money point of view and which has the best chance to become something like a chief intelligence officer as I enjoy both?

Dude push yourself. You will be proud of yourself. I did pure math cs and comp eng at the same time and never looked back. I would never change what I did, it was tough but it was tough in a good way don't settle for mediocrity :D. That is if the course costs dont stress you out too much :)

Don't recall companies ever looking at subjects, only thing of interest is the final qualification just so they know you persevered and finished a task you started.
