HI

I have taught myself to code with the help of www.codecademy.com. I can safely say i am now proficient in HTML5 , CSS and JQUERY. My question is , can i get a job that utilizes my new found skills. Thanks

Of course there are....

You will just have to hunt aroud for them.

Build up a portfolio of sites that show off your skills. Even offer your services to friend/family for free so you can show off your work.

Fiddle with php , XML and database systems as well , will give you a better chance

This :)

While Javascript is becoming more prevalent it would be good to know some other server side languages.
HTML5 is also not just for websites anymore, a lot of mobile apps are developed this way.

I've done those CodeAcademy courses, they are a good beginner course but if that's all you've done I wouldn't say you are proficient

Indeed, they are a great start but hardly scratch the surface when it comes to actual real world implementation.

I would also recommend doing the php course, it's useful sometimes knowing how the backend services function even if you only intend on doing frontend development.

PHP is a very popular and widespread language so it's probably a good start.

so how can i be proficient, is there any college i can attend for a diploma or certificate ?
