I have an MTN prepaid sim for internet use only.

Two questions if I may:

1) Do I have to convert airtime into data??

2) How do I do that without having to put the sim into a phone each time? My notebook has a built in "data card"

Thanks

1. yes you must convert airtime to data. must receive a sms stating the conversion is done.

2. call MTN & ask them if they have a web interface where you can maybe do the conversion

If u bank fnb (dunno about others) you can recharge the number straight from your bank account.

Stricken, Nedbank do too - but what's the difference just using the airtime vs converting it to data

Because if you don't convert it to a data bundle you get charged R2 per megabyte, which will put you in debt very quickly...
