Do i need a special controller for a slc ssd drive to get the max speed out of the drive? Will the motherboard be able to give me the full speed out of my SLC SSD drive?

No special controller needed.

I just bought myself an intel x25-m gen2 160gb ssd, and all i can say is WOW!

If you have an old motherboard, you might need a upgrade card, otherwise all newer motherboards will be able to handle it.

Eerm, you can't put an elephant on a monkey's back to make it go faster!?!?!

If you have a slow mobo, adding hardware isn't going to make it access the SSD any faster.
