Hey,

I want to set up a wireless network in my house, but I am not sure what hardware I need.
I was wandering if I could connect to Sentech with a Wireless ADSL Router.

If I need a Sentech Modem, how do I connect it to the wireless router with a USB Cable, or would it be better to buy the Ethernet cable for the Sentech Modem?

It'd be an even better idea to avoid MyWireless altogether... get ADSL and not MW or iBurst. They suck major balls.

Do you need a modem for Sucktech ?

Take a hammer and hit yourself hard on the head until you pass out.
When you come to, do it again.

If, when you wake up for the 2nd time, you've enjoyed the painful experience, then go ahead and get connected to Sucktech.

If not, then move on and use Iburst, 3G or ADSL.

Nothing sucks like Sucktech - not even Eskom or Manto, or Thabo or even Poison Ivy.

I've had Sentech, then onto iBurst. Do yourself a favour and skip those and move straight to adsl :)

I have to agree with jhbgirl. I went from Sentech to Iburst to ADSL. Do yourself a favour and rather get ADSL.

How to

If you REALLY want to do this (and I agree with others that this is likely to be a frustrating road for you), your best bet is to get a cheap wired router which does PPPoE and connect Sentech to this (you will need a sentech ethernet cable if you haven't got one). Then connect the wired router to one of the LAN ports on the wireless ADSL router/modem. That way you can get onto teh internet and still make use of the wireless capabilities of the ADSL modem/router. You will have to set the wired router to be the gateway though.

yip that modem is gathering dust in the bottom drawer, i think i will frame it, a right of passage of sorts methinks.

Am I able to connect the modem directly to a Wireless router? Do I need a wired router first? And how much Signal do I get indoors with the Wireless Router? I have PCs connected all over the house.

How to...

Yes you can connect Sentech to a PPPoE wireless router. You will need an accessory Ethernet cable which plugs into the WAN port on the wireless router. Pop in the username and password for Sentech and there you go. Wireless coverage from a router is dependent on a number of factors including router brand, power output, building properties (reinforced concrete vs prefab etc). A standard router should cover a standard home in most cases.
