Do I need to be connected to play?

Okay so I figure "****it" I'm going to start from scratch on my online profile. Question is, do I need to be online with the Xbox to be able to play? For now I'm connecting via DHCP to my laptop and my laptop dials to the internet with a wireless connection to my ADSL (shared, hence the need to dial)

Now people have been using this opportunity to (probably unknowingly) download off of my account. I'm pretty sure I setup the DHCP ONLY for my NIC, but would it DHCP other machines through the wireless as well?

ANYWAY.

Do I need to be connected to live to play my games on my live gamertag?

No you don't.

Any gamerscore you accumulate etc will be stored and update your online profile the next time you connect to the internet.
