I've currently got a DSL 192 connection and 10GB from Imaginet, but as from the end of August (damn one calendar month notice period) I'll be switching to a 25GB or 30GB Axxess account, but I've been pondering something.

I have a 192 account but regularly d/l at speeds of between 256kbps and 320kbps, and due to the price reduction which Telkom so generously allowed us (please not the extreme sarcasm here) I can upgrade my DSL192 to a DSL384 connection for a few extra bucks.

Do you think it's worth R89 to get at least another 64kbps.

I'm kinda hoping that by upgrading to 384, I'll achieve 50+kbps like a number of other 384 users or should I just save my bucks....

Anyone else upgraded from 192 to 384 and at both speeds had faster than advertised speeds?

Don't bargain on faster speed :( Telkom have already slowed me down to what I am paying for ie. 384K. Getting 40-42K downloads where I could get 55K a week ago. I would say 384K is the best option, double that of 192K and very close to 512K.

everyone Ive spoken to who is on 384k is getting 50k/s. Id say if you can afford it, go for it. when they first installed my line it was 384k.. then they downgraded it, felt like dialup for a while :(

:)
