IBM Thinkpad ---- Was great until --> they outsourced it to -->
Lenovo , who really make cheap crap that Michael dell would have been proud of in the early 2000's
Thing is… who wants to buy a three year old windows laptop?![]()
I've got a 3 year old Acer laptop at home. The battery lasts about 10min. The trackpad no longer works. The keyboard dips in on the left side and basically lost its sensitivity. Yay.
I'll take it off your hands for R1000.
If you're interested I can PM my mailing address and bank details so you can pay via EFT.
Do Macbooks still have the design edge?
Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers rarely fail. In fact, Toughbook mobile computers are nearly ten times more reliable than standard business laptops. PC Magazine, in its May 2011 issue, reported an industry average failure rate of 15%. Panasonic's service records (as of June 2011, for units in and out of warranty) show an average annual failure rate of only 2.4% for Toughbook mobile computers.*
Panasonic p@wns everyone else (with the possible exception of NEC).
<snip>
Why NEC is cool is that NEC ONLY makes notebooks for the Japanese domestic market. They don't care about exports because they don't want to lower standards. It's a tough choice - a Panasonic or an NEC, but these are the best you can get. And they are pricey.
Indeed.
ONLY FAILURE point and why I don't import it-- is because it runs Windows.![]()
BUT... then there is no reason why NOT to use a MacBook then.
OSX=MacBook... and these already look like the NEC / Panasonic... so, win-win.
Panasonic also very Cupertinominium[SUP]TM[/SUP] now...

I suppose anything silver laptopish is by default Cupertinominium[SUP]TM[/SUP] cloned...
You have a good point.
Buuut I miss the round trackpad.... T_T
Mac = Made in China. NEC and Pany = Made in Japan. That is an important reason. These machines are built to the highest quality standards by descendants of people who gave Genghis Khan the middle finger. ^;_;^ Tears of joy fill my eyes and run down my cheeks when I think of these machines.... ಥ‿ಥ
