My daughter got kept on getting an error message on her decoder (E3 or E4) and they told her to bring it in. They told her they need to send it away for repairs and it the cost is just under R400.

I remember when they would test it on site and even swop it for free for you.

How long have they been doing this then?

If you have the Decoder Care Plan with them then the just swop it out and don't charge anything... If its just a Standard (single view) and they want to charge R400, just buy a new one...

I've had a decoder for over 20 yrs and have never had a Care Plan with them and on the occasions that i had a problem i have always had it swopped for free but granted the last time could have been over 10 yrs ago.

I agree, just go buy a new or even a second hand one somewhere.

I assume you have the MNET Decoder, check bidorbuy, I picked up a few for around R100 or less... For the New MNET Analog Decoders, they still charging more than a DSTV Decoder... My local Agent charges around R600 for a new MNET Decoder...

i just asked told her now and she said she paid the money to them. someone made some nice moola from that.
