Folks may have run into this with torrents "zipped" into winzix's .zix archives. This is a ****e proggy that hogs bandwidth on your machine like crazy and is filled with all kinds of infectuous goodies that will make Symantec very happy soon.

DO NOT INSTALL IT! :cool:

Loads of nutty torrents out there! A good rule of thumb, if it looks weird, it is!
 
Lol, whats the appeal of this new format? .rar & .zip have been around since forever.
 
Well, the story goes that some guy developed it to include spyware and adware in his software to be of commercial interest to paying parties. Now they put torrents online (popular ones) winzix them and then rar them to look "normal"...

So you unrar them and get stuck with a .zix file.

The truth is, it rarely is the file you were looking for. They just want folks to install winzix for their own evil money making scheme!

Known erik the dude from ekriike.com since he was a 15y/o snotnosed brat that cracked Yahoo`s chat protocol (the first person to do it as well)
Basically what i'm trying to say, I trust software he writes and if i really had the urge to Unzix files, that's what i'd use although chances are almost zero that i'd need it on Suse10.3
