Do not park on Level 2 at OR Tambo

OR Tambo charge R60 per hour on Level 2.

I havent got time to get details right now, but apparently the signs aren't clear and one traveller paid ZAR6000 for parking her car there for 5 days and 4 nights.
ooef - just on this point. NEVER ever park anywhere at the airport unless you are certain of the rates just not worth it.

I have also been burnt by driving into the wrong lot and paid R20 to exit literally after entering it.

I'm guessing she parked at the drop and go section?

Lol ouch. What do they say when she says she didn't know?

They said rules is rules, pointed to the signs and made her pay. Other people who have also been caught phoned in to the show with Wendy Knowler this afternoon on 702. Apparently there's a sign at the entrance which is "misleading" at worst and "confusing" at best.

Staff refused to give this particular lady the phone number to "escalate" until she had paid. She phoned and ACSA said rates are on their website and the onus is on travellers to check.

I think I ended up paying R50 for parking way back in 2012. Wasn't there long at all

Honestly I'm surprised more people in this country don't lose their **** over stuff like this and drive right through the boom gates or come back later with molotov cocktails.

The retractable spikes you have to drive over kinda makes this impossible

Damn, that must have been a sad end to your holiday?

I did a similar thing many years ago. Was late for a flight and long-term was fully booked up, so parked in short-term. Came back to a ticket of well over R1k :crying: (I can't remember the exact amount, but definitely was in the thousands).

Funnily enough a security guard was like: "listen, I'll give you this ticket which was created today and you just pay me like R300". I thought about it, but considering they have cameras everywhere and the ticket I had would never be processed, they could've identified my vehicle (company car with branding) and hit me with even more penalties later. So just coughed up the full amount

ACSA staff are the worst.
You have to deal with them inside then deal with Metro outside.

There are long term parking solutions that charge R60 per day.... they pick up your car and return it fully valleted.

We paid R800 for 4 days and 2 nights in the normal parking. It's worth it to have your own ride after time away.
