I suggest Vodacom must stop selling mobile data bundles up to the time when their system is running 100%.
Customers are not coconuts.
Just look at the revolutions which are taking place in the world when dissatisfaction takes over.
Never think this cannot happen to you as well.
I clearly remember the customers stopping to buy Italian cars in the 1970's because of failure to address problems by the oem's.
Ever since they had the earlier system failure everything has been a mess.
I live in Witbank and to access the internet via their service is a complete (and unnecessary) pain.
I sincerely regret renewing my contract earlier - but rest assured that I will start to demand 100% satisfaction.
The media is powerful.

So, I shouldnt be able to use the Web because you are having problems in witbank?

No Keeper, don't be condescending ... He has a point. The network has become very irratic and it seems as if it is getting worse (even in Pta). Aaaaaaaaaaand if you have decent connectivity, shouldn't REAList 1 have the same connectivity as you for the same amount of money?

They could exclude offering their products in areas with little to no coverage..

That's like saying "Shut down all Ster Kinekors because ours in witbank had some sound problems recently"

Yes they could and probably should but we both know they won't. They will take money for nothing and feel like they made you smile

I fully agree. Been having a terrible experience since Saturday with both local and international content. Vodacom network very inconsistent.

re#

Avg of twice a year that I have probs with vodacom
I live in the Northern Subs of Cpt

Not talking about just Vodacom but problem with consumers in this country is everyone moans but nobody actually does something about it.
Yes we want their products but we give our power away when we give them our money while not getting what they promise.
Mass action is the way to go, just a pity that when one suggests something 10 others shoot him down.

My Vodacom experience started off well enough but got so bad I eventually switched over to ADSL for internet, having to re-download stuff at their prices was getting ridiculously expensive.
Just last week I phoned a friend (VC-VC) and had to redial 4 times in one conversation because of dropped calls. Do I get any discount for my sub-par service? No.

Telkom's fighting LLU. As one person I don't really have any power of persuation with them, but I'm sure a couple of hundred thousand suspending their service for a month will make them notice.
It is time we collectively hold these companies responsible when they don't deliver. If only we can get people out of their lethargy.

The only way to get any company to listen is to hit their income. Only then will shareholders force changes on the board of directors. A brand like Vodacom is worth a fortune. Apparently this is not well understood by the current md. Maybe he needs the lesson which the Blackberry md is going to get.

Can't do that either - I've had issues in the middle of Johannesburg where signal is listed to be great - Randpark Ridge, Northriding, Paulshof etc

Maybe they should rather have a clause that enables on to get out the contract in 30 days or so. If a device, handset, modem was issued - that can continue to run OR paid in a lumpsum.

I took a 36 month MyMeg500 and laptop combo - I can't remember the exact figures, but I paid around 350pm. The data was about 200 and the laptop 150pm

First 12 months things were smooth - but then it got horrible after this point. Eventually I got so pissed off I asked them to cancel my data as I couldn't do anything (paid penalties or all the unfair charges) and the 150 continues to run alone

I don't mean to be off topic here but when 500MB of data costs more than the laptop there is a problem somewhere else. 3 year contracts are just ridiculous in this day and age too. Maybe they should take a look at where they stand against Cell C's now standard prices and see they are charging a premium for sub-standard service. Change that and maybe the consumer expectation will change.

Don't see how they can control that as where you buy it is unlikely to be where you're going to use it. I don't see it helping either. Being only a few hundred meters from one of their towers with pathetic service I can tell you the problem wasn't poor coverage but rather their backhaul or faulty equipment.

It was 2+ years back ... there was no Cell C, 8ta or any cheap prices and Vodacom pretty much equaled MTN.

I didn't mind the 36 months as it enabled to me to buy something that I couldn't afford - and something I used every night for the same task. Even with the lagging specs 2 years down the line, I could do what I needed ... until the network collapsed.
