Always under the impression we didn't?
Or can we via, FNB, but it's only through them?

Ok I didn't realise we can sign up first ... For some reason I thought SA was excluded.

So I've signed up and linked my credit card

Thanks!

We can't receive pay outs from Paypal unless you go the FNB route.

Pay for showmax every month using PayPal

You don't need an FNB bank account though, you just need an FNB PayPal account through which you can withdraw funds. Funds can be withdrawn into any bank account though, as far as I know.

I've been using it to pay for stuff for several years now and I'm with Standard bank.

Same here, been using it for more than 10 years now. I'm with FNB but haven't ever withdrawn funds, I used to just use the funds to pay for other things.

Ok I registered direct ... No bank involved. Assume that's ok just to pay someone?

She says she just needed the email I signed up and she'll send the invoice through

We've always had Paypal to pay with.

We've only recently been able to receive money and it's facilitated through FNB but you DO NOT have to bank with them to make use of it.

Yes it's that simple.

We've been able to do that for years.

I've been shopping on eBay for at least the last 10 years using Paypal as well as many other shops.

But the first few years were hoops? Didn't we only get it 2010?

Also, what do banks even have to do with it, if you register with PayPal?

There's the whole thing about receiving money and SARS.

This. Each time you move money from PayPal to your fnb account, big brother wants to know what it is for.

Also, it takes 5-8 business days to clear once moved. Pathetic

It's against the law here to use the money you've received into your PayPal account without first transferring into an SA bank account. The transfer also has to happen within 30 days of receiving it.

Actually it isn't pathetic, have you actually done a international wire transfer, I have done 100's with skrill and skrill charges for the deposit into your skrill account charges for the withdrawal and then the bank this side charges for international incoming fee plus you have to phone the bank to have the funds clear, pending the amount that can also take 3 or so days.

Costs about R650~ odd on 13K and some charges are often in the currency you transferred, you even pay VAT of administration fee, The min admin fee with ABSA is regardless of the amount R150.00

Paypal does batch transfers every few days, and considerably cheaper meaning you just pay for the initial deposit to the paypal account, considering I get paid from another paypal account, I don't pay any fees nor any paypal fees for the withdrawal.

FNB charges 1.5% on the amount transferred and buys the currency at normal buying rate, about $0.25 less then the dollar/rand exchange rate.Considering buying and selling currencies all have fees attached I don't take it into consideration, all your really paying is the 1.5% on the withdrawal amount.

So yeah pathetic that FNB and paypal can save me 100's each month and don't have to phone any bank, paypal or any one to get it done and takes less then 5 minutes to get it done.

Try a international wire transfer then you have a reason to btich and moan......
