Do you care about folding phones?

Assuming there were no faults or longevity issues, which would you rather have?

Apple's lack of folding device aside...

Do we care about folding phones? I was looking at the Galaxy Fold or Z Fold or whatever the Samsung one is on the weekend. I don't get the appeal.

Assuming all issues are fixed and folding phones are just as reliable and long-lasting as regular phones - would you prefer a folding phone to a normal phone?

If so, why?

At this point, I don't want or need a folding phone. The only advantage of a folding phone would be that you get double the screen real estate for the same size, but for it to be appealing to me it would have to have a seamless joint between the screens, shouldn't be any bulkier than a standard phone and the hinge cannot ever wear out.

When Apple invent folding phones everybody will want one. It will be the greatest phone ever. Probably retail at about R120 000 here the way the USD ZAR is going.

I prefer a normal phone ... but then again ... I also didn't think this touch screen fad would take off ...

How would a phone protector work? Is that the correct nomenclature...?

I have a Note 10+ with a proper hardened silicone case. I've dropped it on it's corner and no damage.

What case can you get for a folding phone?

Fukkit I don't really care...I couldn't be bothered to waste my time punching in a password to unlock my phone...so opening and closing one would be just as irritating.

Jokes aside I personally don’t see a need, some power users (whatever that is) might. To me it’s somewhat showboating, Johnson measuring.

maybe if thye can create a phone that is normal size but unfolds 4 ways to become as large as a 10" to 12" tablet size so that i can conveniently carry around a really large screen then i may be interested otherwise it is all much ado about nothing IMHO

I'd give a fair bit to not have to be reliant on a rectangular propaganda machine.

well if they were as reliable as normal, i wouldnt mind a Galaxy Flip type foldable to free up pocket space.

No fault, longevity and price, folding for sure since they're basically as thin as normal phones, with the option of "tablet mode".
All phones are going to move in this direction, just a question of time, will probably be another 2/3 generations until it starts going mid-range.

I'll skip the folding phones and wait for the holographic screen projection ones to come out.

I don't need two screens. And I'm so used to watching things on my phone that I cba to scale up screen real-estate for some yt videos. Dunno - I might hold one and change my tune.
