I absolutely refuse to pay someone to work out how much I must give to the cadres. I feel that it is the tax man's duty to ensure that tax laws can be easily understood by the average man on the street and if he does not, it is his problem. I therefore do my own taxes in the way that I understand the tax laws.

Other: I do other peoples.
Curious who else voted other and why?

Damn right I do my own. Keeping all the paperwork in order to give to the tax guy is the hard part. The maths is the easy part. Why pay someone to do the easy part?

For years I did it myself. But once you are sequestrated, it becomes a bit more difficult as no one tells you that you get a new tax number after being seq. So I had to get a tax consultant to sort out 4 years of mess.

Do it myself but not working so well.

SARS has decided that I am deceased and I cannot resolve it because they keep sending me e-mails that I cannot open.

Used a service once, resulted in a rejected claim that turned into a 3 year nightmare battle with SARS in which the people I paid hundreds of rands to submit did not lift a finger to help me fix their mess. So no, never again. I do my own, where I need help I ask some friends who are experts.

Eish, thats how you end up with penalties.

When will this become a skill that is taught at school??
It will need to be made apart of accounting in schools, which is already pretty challenging because there is a wide range of basics to cover. I feel like a too much dumbed down version of taxation will probably not benefit anyone. But overall I don't know if it could work at school level.

Are you on the left or the right

I married an accountant who is also a tax practitioner, so she automatically took over the tax duties when we got married. The downside is, she already spends my refund before it lands in my account.
