Definitely been looking into it. I would like the experience of at least hunting and eating my own meat once. I know a bunch of guys that do bow hunting but I think I would do that further down the line. I imagine starting off with a rifle.
 
Yes. I love taking my bow and spending some time in the open. I need to go soon, freezer is getting empty
 
Knew a guy at school who got shot in the back, fortunately recovered fully but it took months.
 
I used to and used to go once/twice a year but as I get older my heart gets softer.

Will miss the social that goes with it though.
 
I have no issues with hunting. Animal numbers have to be controlled as most animals are kept fenced in and thus will damage the nature.
Secondly "man" needs to have activities beyond their daily activities. Some hunt, some people like fishing, catching cray fish etc. Besides, "man" was hunting since the beginning, it's part of the "DNA". Remember Tim Plewman's show "Defending The Caveman"?

I do. Not from the back of the bakkie that much, rather drop me off and let me find a spot to sit and wait for the bokke to cross my path. Biltong and droewors, and a neck potjie is njam-njam.
 
Haven't been hunting, but very keen to start. Anyone in KZN/durbs, thats willing to assist with info/places/farms/etc, would be appreciated. Most websites have their prices in USD, and I'm pretty sure its overpriced for visitors.

Don't have my own rifle yet, but am working/saving towards it.

There was a forum member who had a thread on how to start hunting. He eventually went.

My hunting dreams get push out further as my economics dont allow such activities at the moment.
 
Enjoy? Its great being in the bush, but hunting should only be out of necessity or for food, not sport or entertainment.

As our ex-SANDF scout master used to say when we were kids - only small men brag about the things they've killed...

Agree, but if they must just hunt at least try make sure the kill is instant and doesn't involve a family.
