[MENTION=177703]RedViking[/MENTION] Lol I'm not sure you'll be able to. Even just for the improved aesthetic appeal, going backwards in the Office ecosystem is hard. Besides, <R350 a year for 365 Personal from OLX or Gumtree is really not much, especially considering the 1TB OneDrive.

Discontinued software is an issue because many (if not most) updates are bug fixes and other updates for the operating environment. Ingressing should not be a chore with modern Adobe software. The last round of major updates really improved the responsiveness. Photoshop is a joy to use these days. Lightroom has a lot of Photoshop-like functionality built in, perhaps even enough for most photographers. I think you'd be surprised at how good it is - there's a reason it's so popular.

Just install the trial version and check it out. Zero risk.

I would never make excuse for most of Adobe's existence, but it's likely you haven't used their software in a while (or that your PC is a potato). :erm:

Their software is really outstanding these days. I've even ditched Foxit and gone back to Acrobat Reader for viewing PDF's, purely for how much better it is for viewing very high resolution files.

Nope, I just like snappy software. Heck sometimes I forget I opened an adobe product and not solidworks.

Their software is really outstanding these days. I've even ditched Foxit and gone back to Acrobat Reader for viewing PDF's, purely for how much better it is for viewing very high resolution files.

[MENTION=105871]Bryn[/MENTION] I completely agree that it is not much. I have office 2007 on my notebook and 360 on my PC. I switch between the two daily. Honestly, I don't care about the difference as the biggest change is just the interface. Excel is a bit faster compared to the ancient one. That said, I only use word and excel with very basic functions. Office 2007 is still lightyears ahead of other free options like OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

Actually in my field it's not popular at all, in fact I can't think of a single photographer who uses it as part of their workflow because it's too slow. When I need an alternative for Aperture I'll find one, perhaps by then Lightroom will be up to the task, who's to say.

So what software do you use then? I don't find Photoshop slow to open, but I'm open to trying new stuff anyway.

If your needs are really few maybe you can get by with Google Docs?

I'm surprised to hear that. I don't need Lightroom personally, but it's always struck me as really cool the few times I've checked it out.

Are you familiar with Affinity Photo? It has a stellar reputation in the Mac world, and even won app of the year from Apple a while back. Just a once-off purchase that includes all future minor updates. I bought it at a discount after using it while it was in Windows beta.

I don't require half the features, I do most of my ad-hoc editing in paintdotnet (under 2 seconds to start), but that's besides the point. My point was not "There are better options than Photoshop for XYZ" but rather "Photoshop is slow to quickly fire up for simple edits". If you're spending a chunk of your day requiring it's features, then obviously you'd be best off using it.

I've demo'ed numerous versions from it's early beginnings. If my [old] version of PS ever falls too far behind I'll probably switch to it.
 
Anyone know how much hassle the skype number is to set up?

i.e. Can I just set up 4x extra fake emails to utilise them?

I'm already paying that ~100ish zar straight skype costs anyway so figured might just get a the office licenses etc as bonus

This is a very late reply but figured this would be the right thread to get some feedback.

Is the below legit? My view is that office 365 is a subscription based service and as such a lifetime sub cannot make sense.

I don't think Microsoft does lifetime subscription for office 365.

There are however companies that do sell subscriptions for life. Plex lifetime subscription is just one I can think of off the top of my head. You either pay a $5 monthly subscription fee or buy lifetime sub for $120.

From my knowledge Office 2019 is the perpetual licence version of Office 365 so they're effectively the same software just with minor differences like Office 365 giving you OneDrive space, multiple users etc.
 
I did , but now have subscription included with my UniSA enrollment.
