Other...we always had one or more cats, but our only one died last week Friday. The question now is whether to get a cat or cats again as at our age, a baby cat can potentially outlive us, which makes our pet(s) someone else's problem. It will be very empty without another life in the house.

Plenty of older animals at the shelters as well...I took on a 13 year old collie, he was only with me for around 3 years before passing on but what pleasure he was...already trained and just interested in enjoying what was left of his life.

I'm sorry for your loss. You don't need to adopt a kitten or pup. Many older or elder animals looking for homes as well. You'll also know the general temperament of the animal from the start. If you do adopt it might be an idea to have it in your will who you would like to take care of the animal. Or if your wealthy enough just leave the billions to the cat or dog and they'll be fine that way.

I have 2 cats. Mother (13/14 yrs) she is black turning grey and daughter (10 yrs) she looks very similar to and has the temperament of a Russian Blue. Part of me would like to get a dog when they go but the costs of keep a pet and especially dogs are high.
