I post pics and mKe them into nft's.... yet to sell one though
 
Like it or not ppl are making money from it. Beanie babies tulips crypto nft art baseball cards. Nothing is going to change...

And yet there are artists making more money than ever with direct publishing of their original works through NFTs.
 
Not personally interested at this stage.

Where it might become more sensible is when you purchase things easily operated between different systems.

Games in particular. I could see NFT’s have a function down the line in something like Magic The Gathering.

At the moment digital versions of MTG have no real value and no ability to be exchanged. I could see NFTs working very well to enforce the rarity and open it up to trade exchange securely.

Gaming / music is probably the next big boom... The amount kids spend on skins is ridiculous but NFTs true value is the underlying technology of a proven contract. In theory your id, passport, house deed etc could all be an nft in the future. Ultimately everyone needs to do their own research and decide if the believe in nfts or not but simply dismissing it as a rock that sold for millions is just as stupid as the guy who bought the rock, except he actually had the money.

Exactly.

The concept is being taken the piss out of right now and basically meme worthy but the underlying construct has a great many excellent applications.
 
Oh, that thing where the guys makes the bobbejaan faces with the assorted accessories, and sells it for a crazy amount of money, hoping someone will buy it?

Eks nie 'n bobbejaan nie, I will not buy a NFT, it is just a picture after all, but may evolve to other topics. Will maybe sell one, to make some cash.

you be in violation of the copyright held by somebody else, for the creator of the image.
like I said its all just a Scam for people who fail to understand owning a NFT isn't ownership, its ownership of a digital image of it.

and even that is suspect, if I blur the pixels of your stupid Ape, I've made another NFT, and guess what, thats possible to be monetized as well.

like I said I can take an explosive picture of a turd, add some filter, and make that an NFT,
and if you want, you can take the exact same picture, put a DIFFERENT filter on it, and hey presto another NFT!!!!

literally a fad like pet rocks, only in the digital space
 
nice video explaining what an NFT actually is for those of us thinking its like a Fine art, or classic car, or expensive wine.

its NOT, its a scam to fleece idiots from their money, and make more money from a digital representation (but not ownership)

I fully agree it’s a fad in that context and it’s literally people just memeing and taking the piss.

But this also isn’t new.

Magic The Gathering cards are a perfect example of this. You could photo copy them or print your own forever and a day and play the game perfectly fine but only the original held actual value.

Now with NFT’s the same can be achieved in a digital format. Only the original numbered and blockchain verified ownership has any value.

Anyone else can still make a screenshot or a copy and say they have it, but their ownership is worthless.

Very good example - Another good one would be art. Forgeries have been around for centuries but its only the original that carries the true value.

As silly as it sounds you could say people are paying millions for wood, linen and some paint.

The value is also determined by the market. Simple economics in action.

Whether you like it or not doesnt matter

People are confusing photos of the Mona Lisa being NFT’d with artists making original works as NFT’s.

For the first time ever digital artists have a means of attaching rarity to their work that wasn’t possible before.

just like those playing cards, wait till the Chinese start going all out on NFT's,
market will be flooded with similar looking NFT's with one tiny microscopic pixel changed, and it looks identical.

to me I dont see the value in any of this, as what exactly do you pay for?
nothing except promises and dreams.

A classic Car is useful, a Wine can be Drunk, Art can be presented and stored.
but NFT's what is the utility in them?

Just because it has no value to you does not change the FACT that it has value to someone else. Yes there may be copies as you suggest but people who are after the originals will know what is an original and what is a "knock off". As I said art forgeries copies etc have existed for centuries ppl know if what they bought for the most part is real should have sought the original and would have paid accordingly.

I cant fathom someone paying millions for a MTG card - but some people do and as long as there are willing buyers and sellers there will be a market for it.

Whether you like it or understand it or not.
