Do you plan to retire?

Since the work from home hybrid work policy was implemented, I honestly cannot see myself retiring at 60 or so. On the other hand, I'd probably not be able to sit around doing nothing as well so I'd like to always work in some capacity.

Retirement is not for everyone as well. My Dad turned 65 last September but is still working full 8 hour days. He seems to prefer things this way even though he is now beyond retirement age. I've tried to convince him to travel as he is not short of money but he does not seem keen, lol.

Yes! Made my plan 5 years ago, got 4-7 years remaining depending how things go. That's not to say I won't work but rather I won't have to work. In my opinion, retirement is not a magical age, it's just the time where financially, you have enough to last until you estimate that you'll kick the bucket. Comfortably I'll add.

Must be nice to have money to retire....

That's true. You have to be realistic.

I don't know how long I have as well but I know both of my grandparents went in their early and late 70s. My grandfather was a heavy drinker and smoker so it was surprising in hindsight he lived to 74 though the last year or so of his life was not pleasant at all and my grandmother lived to 78 though she was sick for the 20 years I knew her before she passed in 2015.

Then again, life is uncertain and death can come at any time.

I plan to kick the bucket before retiring.

I reached “enough” for a very comfortable retirement about 7 years back. Right now I am working while I enjoy my job. I get to use the extra cash for things that interest me or that I want to support. If things become stressful or the work becomes mundane, I will likely retire.

This is the goal!

Just curious, is there anyone here beyond retirement age that still works 8+ hours a day. I hope my Dad is not the only, lol. He works in the legal field so he can't really be forced to retire though sometimes I wish he could. There is always demand for experienced legal minds.

My mother in law does as well (she's about to turn 70). Sitting at home would drive her crazy, in her words.

Understandable. I kind of feel sorry for civil servants who more or less have to go at 65 but who may want to stay on for longer.
