I smoke. 1-2 packets a day. On busy days a bit more. Love smoking. It smells and taste great for me. Non-smokers and those who do not like it, are not welcome at my place and for the biggest part can simply f**k off. I do not complain about their habits and they should not complain about mine. I do not walk around telling all the people how their crackholes or private parts stink when they walk around or sit in the office so they have no need to discuss my smells either.

I have a feeling less than 1 person feels welcome at your place, smoker or not.

It’s one of two things happening in your brain.

1. You’re ending your withdrawal. For now.
2. Every time you smoke, your brain releases dopamine. Smoking rewires the pathways in your brain after a while to make an action that is effectively killing you pleasurable. Pretty ****ed up.

Does the brain ever recover?
Yes. You do.

Neuroplasticity would apply to an addict as well if I understand it correctly.

It is defined as the ability of the nervous system to change its activity in response to intrinsic or extrinsic stimuli by reorganizing its structure, functions, or connections after injuries, such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Does the brain ever recover?

It does, yes.

What happens is that it effectively hijacks the part of your brain that releases dopamine when you eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re thirsty and have sex - 3 essential functions for human existence. So once rewired, your brain thinks that smoking is essential for your existence, and rewards you with dopamine when you smoke.

It just takes some time for that to be undone, but it definitely goes back to normal after a while.

Depends how much time you devote to it and what neuro-active supplements you add to that recovery.

Me with alcohol was very quick, but, I was a lifelong, and prior, pro athlete. I just used old rhythms to compensate.
Such as? Vitamin B pills?

There's a large connection between gut and brain, so I think overall supplements help.

I also have large quantities of fermented things like kimchi. sauerkraut and kefir.

BTW, that stack is a crossover between Huberman and Sinclair. I also take tongkat ali on a month on, month off basis, and I use creatine.
