do you still defrag and if so do you use built in or 3rd party?

Nope ... not since switching to Linux ... and now with SSD even less need to defrag.
More accurately - absolute waste of time with SSDs due to their rapid access times, and harmful because you're only using up write cycles.

Windows 7 and 8 do it automatically on mechanical drives, and disables it for SSD's. So yes.

Not on my SSD's, but once every 6 months on my mechanical drives - currently use Perfect Disk 10 still

Last time I defragged must of been 2005, running on XP.

Now, if I still ran XP, I probably wouldn't need to either, I reinstall too much.

Yoh, I tried defragging with Windows 7 about 4 months ago....but I couldn't believe it was done, it took like less than 10 minutes, and I have a 500GB Hard Drive on my laptop which was half full at the time.

I use defraging for security purposes. It overwrites deleted files, so making it more difficult to undelete any "top secret" files I may have deleted.

Haven't in close to 4 years. Just no needs for it. Now that I have a SSD, I'll never need to defrag ever again.
