If so, what do you think is acceptable to take? Pens, notepads, shampoo bottles, tea and coffee?

The fk, I thought you meant take as in take things that you aren't entitled to.
Taking a 50ml bottle of shampoo or a sachet of coffee, I should hope people take those as that's what's included in the price of the room. Taking the toaster now we talking.. I don't take those kinds of things as that would be theft but what a useless thread.

Those are consumables part of you stay and bespoke complimentary marketing.

No. I don't need hotel shampoo or hotel sachet coffee at home & if I'm travelling I'm not going to wash my hair in the river the next night where I'll need shampoo - I'll be at another hotel.

I took the laundry bag from the last hotel I stayed in. My running kit had not dried enough so I put in the laundry bag so I didn't have to pack it into my main bag.

Im a far cry from those certain middle easterners who take taps and light-bulbs

such an out of touch poll. I cant remember the last time I stayed in a hotel. Guessing 10+ years ago for work. I would never spend my own money on overpriced accommodations.

I lived in a guesthouse in the middle of nowhere for a few weeks and there I took a yoghurt and fruit from the breakfast buffet every day.

OT - just the consumables and gift bags/baskets. Some of the euro hotels have amazing gifts.

I take only things I can use at home.

Namely: Coffee, Tea, Hand Soap. Not anything else.
Not shampoo, not TP, not pens or notepads, etc
