What about them?

EVFs struggle in low light when you move the camera, or try to shoot moving targets.

Allows people who don't look at the exposure meter or know how the settings influence the outcome, or look at the photo afterwards to adjust settings to take much better looking pictures in static and other forgiving environments already so meh.

That video posted elsewhere about the single pixel camera was quite informative and just goes to show how the technology is advancing. So it could really just be a question of time.

This!

Never, point and shoot yes, but it will never replace SLR.
If you take Apple computers as an example and this was in the news just this last week. There are a lot of professionals able to do their work these days on MacBook Pro's, high end iMac's and iPad Pro's, but then there are still a small percentage who needs the power and capabilities of a Mac Pro. So yes maybe more and more casual users and hobbyests will be able to ditch their SLR's in future because phone cameras will suit there needs, but there will always be a group of professionals who needs high end stand-alone cameras.

Definitely heading in that direction, with all the capabilities of the smartphone cameras as well as the apps that provide an even more professional experience. Won't be surprised when a smartphone is soon launched with the first dslr type/quality camera, since we're already more than half way there considering the picture quality on devices these days! http://www.phonefinder.co.za/mobile...martphone-photographer-ever?sourceID=10000830

So what do you propose will replace these?

They'll replace SLR cameras when they accept interchangeable lenses, external flashes, plus whatever else you can use with a camera and they're large enough to grip well. As far as I'm concerned smartphones still make rubbish cameras compared to a dedicated ergonomic point & shoot. But I can see why casual shooters are simply using their phones these days.

Never, there is more to photography than social media postings
