I see a lot of threads about iMessage activation issues, which I have also experienced myself, and it had me wondering if people actually use iMessage?

I know it is big in the US but here in SA we mainly rely on Whatsapp.

I know iMessage is more feature rich but I dont really see the point of using it in SA.

I use it every day. No idea why really, I just do. I also use WhatsApp.

All day everyday. My whole family and SO is on the Apple train.

No, most people are in Android and rely on WhatsApp so it doesn’t have much use for me.

Chat to some friends on iMessage and have a few groups there.
Still use WhatsApp for the wider community,

used it once .only got one friend with an iphone .sadly he lost it the same day .

Mostly iMessage with a smattering of Whatsapp. Telegram is that red-headed stepchild locked in the basement.

Nope.

If they separated SMS from messages, maybe it would make sense.

But either way, I think people are into WhatsApp here

I only use it when I need to send pics to wife with full quality. I found that whatsapp resizes pictures and which can make it difficult to read things in the pics.

You can negate that by sending them as files.

iMessage will also resize/compress images if you tell it to.

Why not use Airdrop in that case?

We use iMessage here and there, can send PNGs with transparent backgrounds at least, unlike WA.

Because Airdrop only has a 10m range?

Yes use iMessage for all my friends, every gay uses an iPhone so iMessage works flawlessly for me and we avoid WhatsApp coz we are pretentious. The only reason I have WhatsApp is due to work and family.
