Surely you can add an N/A option for those not living in Jozi-land??

If you're in Cape Town, or not anywhere nearby for that matter, you just vote NO.

This means they now have a poll which confirms the lower amount of Gautrain users. Clever? Nay, Genius!

I respect the humour 😅

Having said that I don't agree, it can lead to skewed results.

- Yes
- No
- N/A

Before you say I must still vote & have my say ;)

Use it daily. So does a lot of people. I the mornings it is just standing room. Would it hurt to add more 8 car trains during peak time?

Trains are generally on time. Rare that there are schedule issues.

No, its gross. Just drive. All public transport is gross and dangerous.
Gautrain trains and busses are always clean when I use it. No trash, no stinky-stinky on both like on municipal busses and metro rail trains. Their staff and security are not afraid to tell you that you are breaking their terms and give a pretty high fine when needed, I guess if you get hardegat when they approach you, vengeance might have an effect.

The security at my origin station knows me by now and are very friendly and would chat a bit if they have info that is not on the boards or app.

I feel the parking is safe. I left my key on the motorcycle a few times and they kept them safe until I got back.

It definitely isn't gross or dangerous. I wish we had more trains/trams available in our metros.

I use the MyCiti busses all the time in Cape Town. The convenience of not worrying about parking or safety of your car and not driving/sitting in traffic is just great.

Frequently when I moved to Joburg (post COVID) but they recently dropped their 50% off weekend special and my motivation to use it dropped and I've driven the distance more often than not that I used to use the train for.
Rosebank->Hatfield. One of the longer routes.

Needs more stations.

This looks so good if they get through all the phases (unlikely)

It's been proposed for nigh on 14 years now

The Gautrain is cleaner than inside most people's cars. Also I wouldn't classify driving in SA as safe, Gautrain is by far safer than driving yourself.

I beg to diffuh but okay.
I use the Gautrain daily to and from Sandton. I have yet to see trash on the station or a train. I don't even think I have even seen a piece of paper laying on the floor of the train or on a platform.

Metrorail is the exact opposite. Disgusting stations and trains. Trains and platforms that smell piss and vomit that has been fermenting for years then dumped there and mopped into every surface.

Today at Sandton I was witness to about a hundred Tunisians exiting the station. 4 police officers amongst them for "crowd control". Outside the station one of these guys decided to take a leak on a wall outside the station. He was arrested right there and then and taken back into the station. Sure, I don't know what happened after, but when I went down, the guy was sitting on the floor by the "office" with 2 security guards and a police officer.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Minibus taxis are cheap, but you are a sardine and not safe from dying in a nasty accident or catching the plague on a metro bus or Metrorail anything.
