Do you use the iPad's camera often? How do you use it?

The reason I'm asking is because I think Apple was kindof pressured to put it in. And now, I think only 10% of iPad users use it regularly.

I don't use the back camera, but I have seen people using it on various occasions. I have used it when on holiday as an impromptu (spelling!?) video camera, but not often. Generally I only use the front camera.

I have used it on occasion for Skype video calling, and sometimes when desperate to take a very poor res picture of something.

The resolution is really poor. Apple could easily have used one of the camera's that are used in the iPhone 4. I think it was a strategic move to use a poor camera - having a camera would appease the folk that have demanded a camera in the iPad.

However....using a poor camera would allow them to sell more iPads - people that bought the iPad 2, would rush out and get the iPad 3 when it comes out with it's vastly superior camera. If the iPad 2 had come with a 6 MP camera, there would not be much of a rush for people to upgrade to the iPad 3

I have used mine to Skype with the Mrs when either of us are travelling. I've also done some time-lapse videos using iMotion HD.

That's Catch22 :

Apple were forced by the public who now don't use it. But reason many of us don't use it, is because it's absolute crap :/

You look stupid waving a fondleslab around when taking pictures :p

Yea but higher resolution would mean the apps that use the camera are better as well.

I'm praying for a 1MP camera at least in the next iPad! Then I'll really feel like I've made it!

I actually forgot it had a back camera. That's very unappley.

Anywho, so you guys say you'd use it more if it was high quality??? I don't think so.

Front one yes - Skype, facetime, ...
The back one imo is too low quality, basically too crap to be of any use.

I need to communicate visually all the time, so yeah, a proper camera in the ipad would be very useful.

This notion that you look like an idiot taking a picture with an ipad or using a big phone is quite ridiculous really. Surely people will get over such a foolish notion sooner rather than later.

They look stupid period...

Ag nevermind, someday you be able to get one too and then you can stop trolling at people like us that have them.
Back on topic I have used the rear camera a few times when I needed to take a pic and my phone wasnt handy at the time.

I usually use it for whiteboards, normal cameras don't have the same level of lowlight detail and it doesn't seem to suffer from motion blur as badly.

Weirdly enough that is what I have mostly used it for. I often take a snap after a meeting and add it into my evernote.
Its also pretty good at taking macro pics involving text.

Same, I mostly use the front camera for skyping.

Personally I don't care if they improve the back camera or not - and if improving it means they have to skimp on something else or raise the price of the device I'd rather they left it as is. I've got the card reader and a couple eye-fi cards so I'm not phased in the slightest.

Use it to take picture of the nine-letter anagram in the Cape Times - then I don't have to mess with the dirty paper for my daily word fix.

Now that is thinking out the box :D

While it is a very poor camera, it does a good job of taking macro pictures of a document, that you might want to read later at your leisure

I Can find 1000 ways to better spend my R8000 than on a fondleslab which is a great gimmick in the beginning but eventually becomes a kids toy...

That's your opinion. Yes, there are those caught in the tablet fad without giving WHAT they want to do with the tablet much thought, you sound like one of them.
