Do you use Waze?

Been using it for about 2 weeks now mainly between Durban city and Hillcrest. Works great for traffic. Seem to be about 250 users in the Durban group.

Sorry to resurrect ... But I use it Northriding/Paulshof

When I went out last night at 19.30 it pointed out the roadblocks - but they'd disappeared by 00.00 according to reports. They were, however, still there .... How long do reports stay?

Can they be edited? I know Pigspotter won't show roadblocks after a certain time

Where does Google traffic get their traffic from? Surely a lot of Waze users will start using it instead since it is built into google maps.

I installed and it kept on showing 'searching for network' deleted after it seemed complicated and didn't have time for it.
Someone posted this "http://wap.telmap.com/vodacom" earlier on one of the threads so I guess I'm sorted.

Except Waze has other reports ... Minor accident, police, object in road, major accident and tons of others. Also the average speed is pretty nifty

Tried to use it recently in the UK and it was awful. I'd get instructions like "at the roundabout" and that was it! Eventually paid a couple of pounds for Skobbler's SatNav.

Yip, use it regularly, it's great

Generally in PTA, but also around JHB

Use it almost everyday...from kempton/midrand/jhb.....very nifty...

Started using it a few days ago when I had to get to a random place in Silverton! Worked like a bomb. Going to use it everytime I drive as I tend to be the only (exaggeration) person who hears the traffic reports on the radio when I am already in the traffic!

More people who use this the better it gets!

Checked it out way back when but a 30+ Mb app on an htc desire is a killer. Recently used it again for a trip on my wifes phone and at least now it seems to have some users. Even when @PigSpotter was making news waze was around and is a much better technical solution however it obviously relies on enough people using it and reporting things. The app itself still seems to need a bit more "polish" though and I would prefer to disable the silly things like "achievements". The only achievement I need is avoiding traffic and arriving safely at my destination.

I think i will give it another go. However I thought it was meant to steer you away from the traffic?
Last time I used it, it showed my route with heavy traffic and made no alternative route available ?

Was on but deleted as there wasn't much other users at that time.

Is it worthwhile now?

I have now recently started using it again and find it very useful and cheap compared to the TomTom Live which was being used but needs renewing and the cost is ridiculous.

I have logged a call with TomTom...Live is up to ****....the device is really pissing me off. Not going to renew Live subscription end this year....waste of money....and R900 odd for map update....wash my balls TomTom!

Waze is lekker, just doesnt seem to get dest time correct...its out by 15-20mins...

I use it to travel around the northern burbs and especially for traffic from/to Broadacres/Bryanston. The navigation works fine, but I would not trust it due to the connectivity requirement - I rather us Navigon on iOS. The traffic alerts are useful and I have found a new route to work which shaves of 4 minutes by avoiding a string of robots.

It performs very poorly for traffic alerts. Today was a prime example - around 7:45 - major standstill on Witkoppen/Montecasino and on Leslie going out to Design Quarter. Waze should have directed me rather onto Fourways Blvd and then backroads going on Leslie crossing over Witkoppen. At times (I need to get to Didata campus) it wants to send me off onto William Nicol (I assume going towards Peter Place) instead of just staying on Witkoppen/Main - no real reason for it.

BTW: Some girls have gotten completely sidetracked over a weekend, chasing those Waze points - sounded like playing a game of car-pacman ;-)

I use it every single day, in my commute between Sunninghill /Rosebank/Germiston. Twice I went against its traffic routing suggestion opting rather on *instinct* and I regretted it both times.

Countless the number of instances I avoided traffic blocks, road blocks and speed traps by following its suggestions. Although dangerous, i have started contributed by alerting it of potholes, stationary vehicles along the road etc.
