DOC benefits from Budget Surplus

Which means Sentech will be able to afford more bandwidth, so they can make large profits.

A National Treasury official explains the DOC and the Department of Public Enterprises must coordinate SA's ICT infrastructure to ensure there are no duplications of initiatives before money will be released.
That money should earn a fair bit of interest - there needs to be an initiative before there is a risk of duplication.
The department has completed a comparative information benchmark study on broadband, which will inform the development of an ICT strategy for SA and a policy directive aimed at reducing the cost of ICT is expected to be complete this year. SA's ICT strategy is expected to be complete in March next year.
Of course it will be.

EDIT - now that I think about it when it comes to proving bandwidth I think we could do with some duplication - more the merrier imo.

Can anyone explain this in English please :D

“Infraco will implement long-distance backbone broadband capacities between metropolitan centres, while Neotel will focus on distribution networks within the metropolitan areas, deploying metropolitan area networks and last mile infrastructure.

The newcomer to the telecommunications scene is expected to have upgraded to a 10 Gbit/s dense wavelength division multiplexing platform and establish international connectivity by October this year. Public enterprises minister Alec Erwin recently announced that the company would be incorporated next month.

The multiplexing yadda yadda bit that is please.
