I'm in the market for a new car, and I've taken a serious liking to the Dodge Caliber - just something about it that tickles my fancy! I've not taken one for a test drive yet, so at the moment it's all down to aesthetics.

Has anyone driven, or better yet, does anyone own of these? What am I in for?!

I test drove it a few years ago - was sluggish... but liked it otherwise.

Insipid car as far as I'm concerned, plus you're gonna want to stab yourself with a fork the first time someone drives past you in its replacement:

Best car for the price by far. Bought one second hand a few years back that was under service/warranty and extended the warranty again last year. My dad bought a new one 3 years ago and my brother in law bought one 2 years ago. Not one complaint on anything from anyone since we had them and in my opinion the best service of any dealer in SA.

Doesnt the Caliber have the highest problems in terms of things that go wrong. Read somewhere has the highest faults per parts (out of 100)....something like that. Sorry...got no sauce for it...just remember reading an article about the Caliber and how it was the worst out of cars tested :(

I was also interested in this car until I read the article

Been reading up a bit more, and there are some good points it, seems. Dodge is owned by Chrysler, which also owns Jeep - they're not known for making bad cars? The Caliber is also the replacement for the Neon, and I think uses the same platform. I haven't found any bad press regarding the current model (2011-) so any kinks that may have been present in the older model have probably been addressed. Another improvement has been the interior, which seems to have a strong Jeep influence (and is pretty awesome tbh).

It also received perfect crash test scores in the US.

Last time I looked at a Dodge I thought it was shocking. Things that stood out were uneven panel gaps, cheap hard plastics and overall rough finish. Did not even bother to test drive it.
