I am seriously getting fed up with Afrihosts inability to communicate any ETA on this resolution of this Rain congestion issues. You know, it boggles the mind how we are paying for a service that is unusable. Imagine DSTV was like this, where TV was fine during the day, but as soon as you get home and want to use the service, it was unavailable.

Are any ISP’s giving some sort of better answer than “We are working on the issue” for the last 2 months?

I am better of canceling the service and buying prepaid data from Telkom, MTN etc. much less data but at least I will be able to connect to email for heaven sake. Speeds lately hovering at 0,2MB at night but hell at least at 4am I get 40MB.

The biggest disgrace is that every ISP is still selling this. At least Telkom Uncapped LTw was limited to 100 per base station.

What amazes me is that RAIN resellers like Afrihost and Webafrica are still selling contracts. They are just making the network more and more congested.

I feel like every week it gets worse and worse. In the beginning of Feb the congestion limited me to around 2-4MB at night and week by week as more people hop on the towers it has grinded to a screeching halt.

I mean what the hell must I do with 0,2MB avg speeds. Biggest waste of money. For the next two weeks I am going to hammer Afrihost with support tickets and keep on pestering them until they give some sort of update otherwise I am bouncing.

I have recently joined Afrihost with a RAIN package. Part of my research was to telephone the RAIN support people. They said that if the coverage map showed that I had coverage then I was guaranteed to have a minimum of 10 mbps. Well ha ha ha - in the evenings I am lucky if I get 0.5 mbps. So yes - when will this come right? I have just come from many years with Telkom and their ADSL but due to network cable theft/degredation I was without ADSL and a voice line for 12 weeks. Now it seems that I have jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. What say you Afrihost/RAIN must I be forced to cancel and send your router back?
