My colleague uses them; they're basically a chauffeur service who takes you home in your own car if you have drunk too much i.e are over the legal limit.

What are your thoughts on such a service.

What makes this better than paying R8 per km for a taxi?

If you know you're gonna drink, just leave your car @ home and take the taxi there as well....

Haha good question

I think it is just a way for them to be able to play taxi driver without having to have PDP licenses...

i know we are not supposed to take top gear as a resource, but hammend and may once did a show on it. they drove on those little scooters and drove the people, who were actually sober to me, home. i dont know how much it costs though.... also... say, if you would do that in cape town, you'd go out in town, seapoint or whereever, but you stay in durbanville, sooo.... anyone on a little scooter on the N1 ???

A couple of my friends use them, I've piggy backed lifts home with them a couple times. Two of them arrive in their own car, and then one drives yours
I don't think its worth it unless you use it often & like to travel in the luxury of your own car

What happens if they crash your car? :/
Insurance? Outsurance is offering this service for an extra R20 per month. I'm sure that your insurance would welcome such a service.

Their per km rate is lower than that of a private taxi.

Support driver.

Like you said, you get the true value out of it if you use it often.
Btw, I think that it's worth it if it's going to prevent you from driving home intoxicated.
