Some Telkom employees came to do a feasibility survey today at my house for an EMWG system.
I'm not sure if that's the proper acronym so please correct me if I'm wrong.
All I know is that it's a wireless telephone system (microwave evidently) that they place on a pole on each customer's premises.
The cable theft is so bad (gets stolen within 1 week after being replaced) that they are not replacing copper anymore in the area I live in.
I have a few concerns about the system though seeing as I'm currently using ADSL which works fine even though I'm using a temporary drop wire from the SBC.
1. Will my ADSL still run over the system?
2. What will happen to my network latency?
3. Will I have problems with reliability? (I'm evidently on the limit of 80 dBm)
4. Does anyone know where I can find info about these systems? (Google wasn't helpful at all.)
