I would like to know from anyone if local bandwidth also gets affected by the cap - does it slow down to 64k or is it like adsl where u can still surf locally at full speed?

Thanx :)

At the moment there is no cap. When it is implemented local and international will be bundled into the 3 gig cap from what I understand. When your cap is reached local will go at 64k/s.

Not yet, VoIP will only be an option after deregulation in February, I'm sure WBS will find a space on that bandwagon.

Sure Skype/MSNMsngrrr/NetMeeting/etc, but I interpreted

to be VoIP using a callable number (yes I know Skype does call numbers if you pay), which hasn't been sorted out yet by ICASA, and is unlikely to happen in 2005 at all, bcos Number Portability needs to be sorted first

Sure, I know. I was kidding. However, word on my street ;) is that IS is preparing to roll out V/IP quite soon.. any takers?

Interweaving VoIP with the original topic of iBurst Capping of local bandwidth- I suspect that when we eventually get propper VoIP (post-Number-Portability), junk like caps will be abandoned by competing service providers.
