I will like to set up my folks telkomsa.net account on their iPhone4. Will obviously prefer IMAP. Does this exist on telkomsa?
(Unfortunately, I have to do this for them this way - they do not want a Gmail account with forwarding/fetching etc.)

I doubt it, as I once asked them and she said it was not available. Although it might have changed but its unlikely.

If it doesnt it's easy to make a work around.

Set them up a gmail account and configure it to allow imap, then get the gmail account to collect the email from telkomsa, and set the iphone to use the gmail imap.

At the same time, get your folks to start giving out their new gmail address to everyone instead of the old one, and in a few months can the telkom address.

Thanks warwickw. I know this is the best solution. However, trying to explain that to them is nigh on impossible.
To make matters worse, their iPhone4 and their iPad2 does not like any of the SMTP addresses I input - oh well, that's Telkom for you.

Any news on whether there is a way to access telkomsa.net email with IMAP, let's say, through your Gmail account on the web? And then on iPad through the gmail app?

Working for me on K9 mail on Android as well as with desktop mail applications.

Servers used are webmail.telkomsa.net and smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net

Thank you!

Sorry correction.... those servers work fine on the desktop but not from my phone. I'm unable to send mail from my phone. Think I need to change the smtp server. Have tried smtp.saix.co.za but did not work either. Hardly ever send mail from my Telkom account on the phone so forgot about that.

Anybody here have the correct smtp server for use on a phone?
