Does load shedding affect line syncing ?

Ok im not expert but does load shedding affect your lines signal strength say for example the are in between you and your dslam gets load shedded will that effect the signal strength as bossters (if any are needed) will have no power ?

Its not very clear what you are asking but I think I deciphered it correctly but there was a thread a while ago saying the guys SNR or Attentuation got better because there was less traffic on the lines. Just search

Yes the signal so to speak won't be boosted. But then again there will also be alot less load on the lines and noise could even be reduced.

And what woulkd you think the probable cause would be for my attenutaion yesterday to be 28 and SNR 21, then to wake up today and SNR be 8 and attenuation 38 im baffled

I get this too. My SNR is not always stable. I chalk up any major decreases (like you are seeing, down to 8) to Telkom doing something (e.g. working on the DSLAM, on a line "close to" yours, etc.) If it does not return to normal within a day or two, I would call Telkom. Also, the last time my SNR dropped severely, it was because of something connected to my telephone line malfunctioning. As soon as I disconnected it, the SNR jumped back up to normal levels. So, try and disconnect all devices on your DSL line (except your modem, of course).

Lastly, I've noticed that as the day progresses and evening begins, my SNR trends downwards, and from what I have read, that's normal (don't ask me why though).

Update: You may want to try running RouterStats to graph your SNR to see if it is fluctuating or just to monitor it over a period rather than having to manually check in your router: http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm
