Hi,

So today it was raining where I live, and when I was browsing the Internet, playing online games, my ADSL kept disconnecting / hanging every like 10 minutes, and then reconnect after a minute or two.

Does rain affect the quality of the ADSL Service? Also, my voice line doesn't seem to be working, yet I can still use ADSL service.

Thanks.

If there is a faulty joint or a flooded manhole close by then yes, it will impact on your service. Log a fault with Telkom and complain about a "dry joint" on your cable route as it only happens when it rains.

I have the same problem when it rains heavily sometimes my line drops every few minutes constantly and I need to revert to 3G, I logged a fault but they didn't do anything about it, by the time they check it's all fine again.

Follow your telephone cable and check for open boxes and/or cables, report or close with plastic bag.

I called Telkom today, they told me that the cables in my area are damaged, i got a reference number from them and logged the fault. I asked them when will the repair be done, they said they could not confirm that. Does this affect the quality of ADSL or are the phone services and ADSL services on 2 different "lines"?

Same line. The call centre won't be able to give you a reply yet. The job card must be drawn up and then given to a contractor to execute the repairs.
