What the title says...
I was downloading some torrents and I noticed that the network was unusable while I was downloading, I cancelled the torrent and immediately the network became relatively usable again.

You have answered your own question.
Torrent traffic is easily identified and thus throttled. Brutally, in the case of Rain.

Hi @Kepler186f

11.1.4.3 automatically throttling all 4G/LTE and 5G data traffic that directs towards peer-to-peer sites or uses torrent applications between 05:00 and 23:00.

By now everyone that downloads torrents …

knows exactly to download them during the night or after 00:00 …

last night I downloaded a torrent but it wasn’t that bad … updated my trackers and let it run … didn’t take to long … but it wasn’t that fast

Yeah, even if you run torrents after mid night they are caped at 100kbps on the 4G network.

It might be worth your while looking into something like offcloud or premiumize to handle your torrents.

You don't really need torrents to slow down your connection. But it should help.
