Hi All

My PC started to lag and I created a backup of Thunderbird Profile the reset it and now cannot access the profile. Does Telkom save all my emails? Would I be able to ask them to send them to me?

Please help me.
Thanks in advance

They have server backups but that does not extend to your personal negligence.

You should not be using an isp email account anyway, there are better alternatives out there.

If you have backed up your Thunderbird profile, you should be able to pull the mails into your new profile.

It depends on whether you had Thunderbird setup as POP or IMAP ; if POP, would depend on your settings - read more here .. https://support.tigertech.net/thunderbird-lmos

Then, refer to these threads for some useful info. :

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/422624-Change-Telkom-Email-Password

You should get your Email username & password from Telkom - don't think you can set it up via their web portal - and log in http://webmail.telkomsa.net/ to see if all your old mail is still there, but that depends on if Thunderbird was deleting it from the server. [Telkom might only save 30 days worth ? .. just a guess].

You might need to use/refer to these as well :

Finally, take the advice given in this article & gradually move your mail away from Telkom (by spending a few weeks handing out your new GMail address to your contacts - both personal & business/institution) :
http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-migrate-to-gmail/

Include in all your outgoing mail a note stating you will no longer be using your Telkom email address after a set period of time - say 30 days.

Note that GMail's spam filtering is excellent, but it sometimes puts legitimate mails into that folder, so check the spam folder regularly ; you can still use Thunderbird to get your GMail : http://pop2imap.com/thunderbird-gmail.php
