does telkom do their own wooden pole telephone installations ? im situated about 50m from existing wooden poles across the road but telkom insists that my road has no infrastructure according to their systems how can i get adsl at home

Yes they do.

so there is no way to get them to put one in my yard so that i can access the lines already there

They use contractors for the cabling, installing fibre, installing new cable ducts etc.
