Does this make sense

I have a ADSL 384 connection with two ISP accounts from WebAfrica,

5GB Shaped and a prepaid Unshaped account.

Now when i log in Counter Strike source my latency on the shaped account is on average 10 - 20 better than my Unshaped account. So does mean that the Unshaped account is after all not better for gaming or what?

not too sure about that. My unshaped account on an European server is FAR better than my shaped account. The shaped account has ups and downs, sometimes I am able to play with it, and other times it is just totally impossible to even move. Where my unshaped account is always playable, minimal lag (although my piing is about 314ms) no funny spikes or issues.

I have not tried the unshaped account on local servers, so I can't comment on that.

Unshaped should be better

Some ISP's are crappy, unshaped is supposed to be better, because there should not be any port shaping or port blocking etc. Phone ur ISP and ask them why ur Shaped acc. performs better and why u pay more per Gb for a slower connection.

Interesting comments, for the record my experience is with WebAfrica and don't have any hassels with their unshaped or shaped accounts, it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

I have not had any bad experiences either, i was just wondering about the latency.

I must say i tried it like at 07:00 this morning maybe i will see a bigger difference like when everyone is online and gaming.

What I have found with FPS games on international servers is generally we are buggered, whether you have a shaped or unshaped account. Try playing something like AmericasArmy on int servers is like totally a lost case. when you not blowing up your buddies with lagged out nades, you can't even take 2 steps, and the next minute you are dead. If you are playing CCS on local servers you might as well stick to your shaped account, don't think you will see a huge difference locally. Playing AA on local servers I get a ping of between 15 and 30, but the higher pings are normally caused by the servers itself, and not the shaped connection. Internatianally it is a different story though.

Is counterstrike internationally hosted?
Are you on SAIX unshaped or Verizon?
I have heard stories of people who switched from SAIX shaped to unshaped and had to bug the guys to check that they were indeed on unshaped... only to find that they were still on shaped (but being billed for unshaped).

Yeah, I play AA on a shaped account locally, tried unshaped and i still lagged out.

I get much better performance with my WebAfrica Unshaped versus TelkomInternet and WebAfrica Shaped for World of Warcraft.
