Checked the line stats on my router:

SNR Down
22.0 dB
SNR Up
6.7 dB
Line Attenuation Down
17.8 dB
Line Attenuation Up
6.0 dB

Path Mode
FastPath

Data Rate Down
10240 kbps
Data Rate Up
1023 kbps

MAX Rate Down
19092
MAX Rate Up
1048

Would this mean I'm capable of getting at least 20mbps ADSL? www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/ says my max is still 10mbps though..

What does the coverage map say? http://www.telkom.co.za/coverage/ It shouldnt be a problem to get a 20Mbps line if you can but that attenuation is a worry it might not get you to sync at full 20Mbps if only your Upstream ATT was your Downstream.

Check his link, use the VDSL option.
The exchange has to support it and the exchange has to have fibre backhaul or else they would have issues of congestion.
